Cell entries maintenance
The maintenance of rows through the edit interface is cell-based. The characteristic master data of each column determines the type of data entry allowed in that column.
Adding Values for Characteristics with Characteristic Values
To initially populate a cell, it is activated by double-clicking with the left mouse button. A dropdown menu with available characteristic values will appear. At the top of the list is the option “Select all” to select all values. Individual values can be selected by checking the checkbox next to each characteristic value.
Alternatively, values can be directly entered via the keyboard. To do this, the cell is activated by double-clicking with the left mouse button. A subsequent click enters the edit mode, and the characteristic value can be typed directly.
To narrow down the list of characteristic values, enter a partial value in the input field. The list will dynamically update and only show values that contain or match the entered text. The desired values can be selected by clicking the checkbox next to them.
For Variant Tables in the AVC Processing Mode, the value "*" is also available for selection. This value does not need to be included in the characteristic master data.
Adding Values for Characteristics without Characteristic Values
The cell is activated by double-clicking with the left mouse button. The editing mode is entered with a single click of the left mouse button. For Variant Tables in the AVC Processing Mode, the value "*" is always suggested as the default. Additional values can be manually entered via the keyboard. The entry will be validated upon pressing Enter based on the characteristic properties such as type and length.
Field Content Validation
During the maintenance of the table, entries are validated against the parameters of the characteristics (columns) as well as the processing mode of the variant table. Most of these validations are the same as those in the SAP standard. Errors are displayed to the user in a dedicated information area below the table maintenance section.
At the latest, when saving the data in the SAP backend, a final validation of the data is carried out according to SAP checks to ensure its accuracy.
