Calling variant tables
When starting the app, the "Home" tab is displayed, where the variant tables can be selected for editing. The selected tables will then appear in separate tabs to the right.
A maximum of two variant tables can be opened in edit mode at the same time. If two tables are already open for editing, any further tables— even when selecting "Edit Table"— will only open in display mode.
Home Tab
In this tab, the user can open the tables to be edited. The user needs to provide the following details:
Enter Table Name/Date/Change Number
Field: Select Table
Label: Table ID
Initially, the field shows the label "Table ID." As soon as a character is entered, a list of up to 20 variant tables whose name contains the character will appear. If the desired table is not in the list, the input can be further refined.
The field is case-sensitive, so it is important to pay attention to uppercase and lowercase letters.
When the input is confirmed with Return, the table will open by default in edit mode. However, if two tables are already open in edit mode, the table will instead open in display mode in a new tab.
Field: Date
This entry is only meaningful if the tables are maintained using the SAP change service.
Label: DD.MM.YYYY
Initially, the field is prefilled with the current date. To change the date, there are the following options:
- Selection via input help: Click the primary mouse button on the calendar icon in the input field. A pop-up calendar will open, where the desired date can be selected by clicking.
- Input via keyboard: After selecting the field with the primary mouse button, the date can be adjusted using the keyboard.
Field: Change Number
This entry is only meaningful if the tables are maintained using the SAP change service.
Label: Change Number
Initially, the label "Change Number" appears in the field. After selecting the field with the primary mouse button, a previously created change number in the SAP backend can be entered. The input help icon is currently inactive.
Selection via Lists
At the bottom, two lists are available:
- Recently Used
- Favorites
By selecting the respective tab with the primary mouse button, you can switch between the display of the lists.
The lists can be visually adjusted using the edit icon in the top-right corner as follows:

he editing options within a column are described in Section 9.3. The content of the list columns is provided by the SAP master data.
The content of the two lists can be modified by the following actions:
- The "Recently Used" list is automatically populated whenever a table is opened in both display and edit modes.
- The "Favorites" list can be managed by the user, who can mark a table in the display/edit tab. If the marking is removed, the table will be deleted from the favorites (see Section 9.1.1).
Selecting a variant table from either of these two lists is done by clicking with the primary mouse button. The respective table is normally opened in edit mode. If two tabs are already open in edit mode, the table will be opened in display mode in a new tab.
Calling Variant Tables content
Once the table name and any additional parameters have been entered, the content can be opened by selecting either the "Edit Table" or "Display Table" buttons with the primary mouse button. A new tab will appear, with the tab label showing the name of the variant table along with its status (Edit or Display mode). The eye icon represents the display mode, while the pencil icon indicates the edit mode.
If two variant tables are already open in edit mode, any further tables will always open in display mode, even if the edit mode is selected. To open a new table in edit mode, one of the existing tables must either be closed or switched to display mode first.
Alternatively, a variant table can be directly opened by pressing the Enter key after entering the table name.
